Chef Mickey’s Restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Dining at Walt Disney World)

Chef Mickey’s restaurant is located in Disney’s Contemporary Hotel, just a short monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom. At Chef Mickey’s, you will meet various Disney characters as you dine. We met Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. They serve breakfast and dinner; both are buffets.

Chef Mickey and other characters meet and greet diners.

It is well worth noting that if you are worried about cross-contamination at a buffet, you can ask the chef to make something special. In 2008, when we had dinner at Chef Mickey’s, the dessert was a sundae bar. The chef gave us  nut-free sundae toppings directly from the kitchen so we didn’t have to worry about cross-contamination from other toppings at the buffet. The first time we were at the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom, the chef made my daughter eggs and bacon separately and delivered the plate to the table.

Special diet requirements are noted on the table-seating slip.

When we made reservations, we made sure to mention that we had food allergies; which were noted on our table receipt, so the wait staff knew to call for the chef. The chef came out to speak with us, verified that the allergies listed were correct and then told us what was safe for Jess.  Everything was safe with the exception of most of the breads and pastries due to cross contamination. Krispy Kreme Donuts and Rice Krispies were both available and both were ok for Jess. We usually do not eat from buffets due to concerns about cross contamination;  Disney is the exception. We ate breakfast twice at Chef Mickey’s this trip and she ate fruit, Mickey waffles, bacon, eggs, cereal and Krispy Kreme donuts.

I’ve included photos of the buffet in the slide show below so you can get a visual on what Disney serves and how it is served.  This can make you better prepared for dining at Disney.
